I’m super excited that my short film Drum Village Primary School will be screening for the first time in the Australian Shorts Competition at the 8th Edition of the Antenna Documentary Film Festival in Sydney. Antenna is Australia’s premiere documentary film festival and runs October 9-14th this year.
The full Antenna program is really exciting – packed with rich narrative and ethnographic storytelling with films from Australia and around the world, which I hope will be of interest to geographers in Australia.
For context, the Drum Village documentary project emerged out of my Honours research in the area in 2015, and is an ongoing project looking at social change on China’s Loess Plateau; this short film is the first part of this series and draws on footage I shot at the village primary school in winter 2016.
The shorts program, including DVPS, is screening on Sunday 14th at 12.30pm at the Verona – it’d be wonderful if some of you could make it.
